It refers to the 27th October 1986, when the London Stock Exchange’s new regulations took effect and the automated price quotation system was introduced to The City. This effetely did away with the old style market floor with hundreds of people franticly buying and selling shares and paved the way for online brokers and execution only account so anyone could easily access the market.
